MAPLE LEAFS RE-SIGN DUSTIN RICHARDSON
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have re-signed Left-Handed Pitcher Dustin Richardson for the upcoming 2025 season.
Richardson, a member of the Maple Leafs organization since 2018, spent parts of two seasons with the Boston Red Sox and quickly cemented himself as one of the premiere relief pitchers in the IBL. A 2.55 ERA over 84.2 innings since his debut, Richardson has struck out 159 while notching 13 saves with Toronto. In 2024, he recorded his second complete season without allowing a run - the only active player to accomplish such a feat - while striking out 15 and picking up two saves.
In addition to spending time within four MLB organizations, the Newton, Kansas native has also played in the Atlantic League, Dominican Winter League, Venezuelan Winter League, and the Caribbean Series.
“Dustin is one of the most dominant pitchers in the IBL, and we’re incredibly thrilled to have him back for another season. His ability to strike hitters out is second-to-none and the competitiveness, the fire that he brings, we’re really excited to see him back on the mound in Toronto,” said the club.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are a member of Canada’s best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
