MAPLE LEAFS RE-SIGN MIKE CECCHETTO
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have re-signed First Baseman Mike Cecchetto for the 2025 season.
Cecchetto, a native of Toronto, joined the Maple Leafs in July of last season after spending time with Guelph, Barrie, Hamilton, and previously Toronto since 2018. Across thirteen regular and postseason games last summer, Cecchetto hit .385 with 3 HR and 11 RBI over 39 At-Bats - including a 5-RBI performance in Game 1 of the playoffs vs. Barrie, which saw him blast a ninth-inning grand slam amidst a three-hit day.
“Mike had a terrific end to last season after coming over to us, and we’re thrilled to have him back for a full year in 2025. We saw the raw power he possesses, and his ability to pull the ball with authority, consistently, was something we were very impressed with. He’s a Toronto kid too, and there’s always some added pride when playing for your hometown team,” said the club.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are a member of Canada’s best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
