MAPLE LEAFS RE-SIGN MARCUS KNECHT
TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have re-signed Outfielder Marcus Knecht for the upcoming 2025 season.
Knecht, a Toronto native and former Blue Jays prospect, will enter his sixth season with the Maple Leafs in 2025 after seeing action in 35 regular season games last summer - a career-best. The veteran outfielder has posted as many career RBI as Games Played over his time in the IBL with 161, while having swatted 42 HR to go along with hitting .300. Selected as a First-Team All-Star in 2019, Knecht has also seen time in both the World Cup of Baseball and Pan-Am Games while dawning the Canadian flag.
“Having a veteran guy like Marcus around is really important. His ability to play near-every day last year, really when he was just ramping back up, and the leadership and consistency is a big reason why we think he’ll have a great 2025,” said the club.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are a member of Canada’s best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
