ALEX LANIGAN NAMED AS PLAYER ADVISOR

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club (@mapleleafsbaseball) have announced that Alex Lanigan will be a Player Advisor for the club during the 2025 season, with plans to rejoin the club on the active roster in 2026.

Lanigan, a Langley, BC native, pitched in parts of two seasons with the Hamilton Cardinals before joining the Maple Leafs during the second-half of 2024. In 2023, Lanigan led the Cardinals with a 2.60 ERA across 38 innings, striking out 31. Alex will work with the front office, including newly-appointed GM Dustin Richardson.

“We’re ecstatic to have Alex available to help us in this role, advising management on various player-related activities. He has a great baseball mind, and that’s something we picked up on right away after he joined us last year. Alex is well liked across the organization and we would love to have him as a Maple Leaf for life. Our plans are that Alex will rejoin our active roster in 2026, something both he and the team are looking forward to. He’s got a great arm, and more importantly, great attitude, and is exactly the type of pitcher and person we want to have in the organization,” said the club.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a member of Canada’s best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
